The City of Fremantle is currently seeking expressions of interest for the sale of Victoria Hall, located at 179 High Street, Fremantle.
Located on High Street within the heart of Fremantle's CBD, Victoria Hall, a good example of the Victorian Academic Classical style, was designed as a parish hall for St John's Church in 1896 by renowned architect and solider, Sir Joseph John Talbot Hobbs and was built during the Gold Rush.
The building was officially unveiled in 1897 and later named after Queen Victoria in honour of the British Monarch at the time of her Diamond Jubilee. The City of Fremantle purchased the hall in 2001.
The High Street building, which was built in 1895, has been a dance hall, theatre and music venue over the years. It was also used by the Salvation Army during the 1980s and early 1990s. Situated 50m away from the recently completed FOMO and Walyalup Koort redevelopment and a short stroll from the Cappuccino Strip, Victoria Hall comprises about 587 square metres of internal space, which includes a spacious 215-square-metre main hall with a stage and mezzanine; another 84-square-metre hall, many smaller rooms, as well as offices and storage. Other features include a courtyard, a full bar with its own entrance and toilets.
Please see the City of Fremantle website for expression of interest documents.
EOI closes 28 May 2024.
